The Studio Theatre’s Apprentice Program is a 50-week opportunity for on-the-job career training and experience. It is designed to enhance students’ education by providing real life work experience in the professional environment. In addition to specific areas of specialization, there is also the opportunity to gain knowledge in the workings of other areas of the theatre resulting in a well-rounded experience.
Under the supervision of the Director of Education, the program has eight areas of specialization:
Acting Conservatory/ Administration
Public Relations and Communication
Development
Literary/Public Programs
Carpentry/ Scene shop
Stage Management

All apprentices participate in group projects as well as individual department exchanges that allow the chance to see first hand the roles that various departments play. Like staff members, apprentices work a 40-hour week and also participate in both department activities and theatre wide activities that may require working evenings and/or weekends. The schedule is rigorous and offers the chance to work alongside the finest professionals in the area’s premiere stage for the best in contemporary theatre.
