*Students enrolled in the Voice or Movement class in addition to an acting class receive a $100 discount in the non-acting class tuition.

**Students currently or previously enrolled in Shakespeare 1 class receive a $50 discount in the Stage Combat Workshop.

 

Financial Aid

Young Actors:

To continue The Studio Theatre’s mission to ensure accessibility to the performing arts for the entire community and to promote public awareness of the role of the arts in the quality of life and economic development, our Youth On-Stage program was created in 1991. We reserve slots in all young actors classes for scholarships to students who have an interest in the performing arts but lack the financial resources.

Students audition for a scholarship. If accepted, students pay only a $20 non-refundable registration fee.

Adults:

Students accepted for the work study program receive a 50% discount off the tuition.
Work study consists of a total of 40 hours for the semester plus the final scene nights.

 

Work Study Responsibilities

Time Requirement:
During the semester, the student must be available to perform work study during office hours: Monday-Friday 10am-6pm for a total of 40 hours (per class), plus be a host/hostess for three Final Scenes.The Director of Education will make the schedule.

  • For the Fall and Spring semesters, students work approximately two hours per week in the office.
  • For the Summer semester, students work approximately four hours per week in the office.

Students should be available to do light administrative office work, answering phones, helping with mailings, data entry, flyers and other PR distribution, and various other projects. Work study students will also:

Check five classrooms: Studios A, B, C, D, E, and F

  • ensure all lights are working in each room
  • make sure clean chalkboard, chalk and erasers are available in each room
  • remove any garbage (cans, candy wrappers, etc.)
  • organize school furniture and props in their appropriate storage place
  • notify the Director of Education of any broken furniture, shades, easel, props, etc.
  • vacuum if necessary

Be available at the beginning of semester to help with three pre-registration periods (to be scheduled)

  • make reminder phone calls to students
  • photocopy material for students
  • prepare the classrooms

Be available at end of semester to help with three Final Scene nights (to be scheduled)

  • clean and prepare the room for Final Scenes
  • assist as host/hostess for acting classes Final Scenes

If there are any reasons you might not be able to do anything on this list, please bring it to the attention of the Director of Education prior to your acceptance into the program.

If work study is discontinued prior to the end of the semester, full tuition payment policy becomes effective.
