IMPROVISATION WORKSHOP
(The Viewpoints)
November 8 + 9
Sat 1pm-5pm and Sun 11am-2pm
The Viewpoints, developed since the 1970's by Mary Overlie (dancer) and Anne Bogart (director), have become a significant contemporary training tool for the actor. The Viewpoints are a series of improvisational movement explorations which focus on the basic elements of performance: space, time, relationship, environment. They are designed to strip away the actor's need to entertain and please the audience, and to awaken the actor's sensitivity to stimulus and response, and to the need for heightened physicality in relation to text and the creation of character. Through the Viewpoints, the actor learns to how to develop a wider range of spontaneous and dynamic artistic choices for the stage.
Instructor: Meade Andrews
No prerequisite

These harmful habits get in the way of daily life as well as the way in which actors find character choices and execute performance. A special workshop in the technique will be presented for one weekend only.
Instructor: Diana Bradley
